About Me
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to explore my work. I’m Ethan, and I have been photographing weddings for 10 years. A decade of doing anything is going to shape who you become and I am so glad that I have stuck with this for as long as I have. Growing up with cameras in a small town outside of Columbus, Ohio, I often found myself inspired by the process of photography but always in short supply of inspiration. Upon moving west, my focus in photography also moved around. I dabbled in a number of different fields with a 4 year stint in the music industry. I photographed my first wedding in October of 2014 with my long time friend, Jacob Reynolds. Him and I were both incredibly nervous but we were excited. I knew then that this was the beginning of a long journey. I am now nearly 500 weddings removed from that first one and I have traded the nerves for gratitude. Wedding Photography grants me opportunities to witness people having a myriad of emotionally charged experiences. After 10 years and nearly 500 events you may wonder if I ever get bored of it, and if I was only seeing weddings from the vendor perspective, yeah of course I would. There’s only so much variation in a trend based industry when it comes to wedding design and execution. The PEOPLE make weddings different and regardless of where or how you’re getting married, those who you choose to celebrate with are what make each and every wedding unique. The institution of marriage and the tradition of celebrating at weddings isn’t particularly unique but if you look beyond the where, when, and how of weddings and focus on the who and why, you’ll find that we are all so wonderfully diverse and that’s worth celebrating every weekend.
My Promise
Photographing a wedding is a task that should always be treated with care and reverence. I understand how important it is that your ideas and needs are heard and I am committed to collaborating with you to make your vision a reality.
Process and Style
How can you benefit from my 10 years of wedding photography experience?
-
I bring a calm and confident energy to every wedding. My greatest strength is my ability to read the room. In heavy and emotional moments I remain hands off as to savor those moments and capture them authentically. When it comes time to take a pause and pose for portraits, I shift gears to take control of the moment and clearly communicate. If you are concerned that you may be awkward in front of the camera, you are not alone. The majority of the couples you see featured here felt the same way. I take pride in my ability to empower people in front of the camera and I strive to capture a sense of passion and confidence in my subjects.

Despite how much you plan, curveballs happen. In fact, I would argue that mishaps are a reliable part of a wedding day. Having photographed over 500 weddings, I am equipped with the confidence to quickly adapt and help us stay on track all while making sure we get the most out of your photos.

I have a strong conviction in how I do things. I don't believe in taking any shortcuts, nor do I feel comfortable in faking any moments. You will never be asked "fake it for the camera" and you won't have to because on the day of your wedding you have my full and undivided attention. Following the wedding, each photo is individually edited without the help of presets or AI. All of the images you see here are the results of real weddings as I do not take part in any styled shoots (Mock wedding photoshoots).

Ultimately, all of this does feed into the final results. When we are intentional about the posed portraits and present for the candid moments, you will receive a collection of images that are vibrant with inspiration and accurately depict the way that you felt in the moment.
Dual Approach
A one size fits all approach doesn’t really work with wedding photography. Your wedding gallery will be made up of candids, portraits, and some photos of your wedding’s details. I have spent the past decade fine tuning how I approach weddings and I think I have found a way to get the most out of each event.
Candids
I believe the candids are the most important part. They are the visual retelling of organic moments. This is going to be the bulk of the wedding gallery. For most of a wedding day I am very hands off as to preserve the authenticity of these moments.
Portaits
Portraits are a creative and collaborative process and I am here to help with clear and concise communication. This is a part of the whole process that gives most couples some degree of anxiety. I am here to help you to feel confident, relaxed, and inspired throughout your portraits.
