Alternative Wedding Venue Ideas

Let’s test your creativity

If you are planning a big wedding, you might have a hard time here. Id say that this advice really appeals to those planning to elope or host a small wedding with less than 50 guests. You could save a little bit of money at a normal wedding venue by downsizing your guest list but that venue still has a basic operating cost that needs to be accounted for so you likely won’t save much. Here is a list of different small venue options that are unique and can save you a bit of money.

  • Rooftop of a City Building

  • Art Gallery or Museum

  • Industrial Warehouse

  • Botanical Garden or Conservatory

  • Private Island Retreat

  • Historic Library

  • Airbnb or Vacation Rental Home

  • Aquarium

  • Your Backyard

  • National Park or Forest Clearing

  • Private Vineyard or Winery

  • Underground Speakeasy or Bar

  • Lakeside Cabin or Lodge

  • Retro Bowling Alley

  • Music Venue or Concert Hall

  • Zoo or Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Campsite or Glamping Resort

  • Boat or Yacht

  • Hot Air Balloon Site

  • Coffee Shop

A little bit of imagination and inspiration can go a long way. These options, as well as many of the other unconventional ideas often do come at a lower price point and the only real downside is that it usually requires more work on your end. If you care cool with trading in some good hard work for a less expensive and more unique wedding, one of these options might be perfect for you.

Johnathan and Brenna secured a few train cars on the Verde Canyon Railroad for their wedding reception. This awesome little excursion showed their guests some of the most beautiful back country that Arizona has to offer.

JD and Emily rented a section of Central Park for their ceremony and hosted their reception on the patio of a beautiful restaurant in Brooklyn.

Josh and Marissa eloped at the Grand Canyon. They rented a big enough house in Flagstaff to fit all of their family. This made for a really fun and stress free day.

Kyle and Sam Eloped in a glamping camp near the Utah/Arizona border. The site had a small slot canyon (similar to Antelope Canyon) on the property. At night they enjoyed some music and cocktails.

I have so many other galleries from unique engagement sessions, weddings and elopements.
