Photographing a wedding is a task that should always be treated with care and reverence. I understand how important it is that your ideas and needs are heard and I am committed to collaborating with you to make your vision a reality.
“I don’t love weddings”
So I was talking with my friend and fellow photographer, Kyle Pope, about wedding photography and he told me he doesn’t love weddings… but he really enjoys shooting them. That really resonated with me. I don’t LOVE weddings but I do love being a Wedding Photographer. At weddings I get to do so many different kinds of photography throughout a wedding day and better yet, I get to do it while I’m surrounded by people having a myriad of emotionally charged experiences. I don’t love weddings but I love meeting and connecting with people while they are experiencing something powerful and meaningful in their own lives. I’m often asked if I get bored of it, and if I was only seeing weddings from the vendor perspective, yeah of course I would. There’s only so much variation in a trend based industry when it comes to wedding design and execution. The PEOPLE make weddings different and regardless of where or how you’re getting married, those who you choose to celebrate with are what make each and every wedding unique. I think people get bored of weddings because the institution of marriage is very common but if you look beyond the where, when, and how of weddings and focus on the who and why, you’ll find that we are all so wonderfully diverse and that’s worth celebrating every weekend.
Constant Pursuit
In my personal life, I spend as much time as I can exploring. I am constantly searching for more. Wether I am running jet boats up the headwaters of the Grand Canyon or driving through the Alaskan Interior, its so important to me to keep exploring new possibilities. Carrying that mindset into my business, I encourage you to join me in that pursuit. Let’s explore new ideas, new places, and new ways of telling stories. At the end of the day we are all just a sum of our experiences and I want to share those experiences with those that are also striving for MORE.
